Death By Fives
Ed. note - Don't miss Shane's first multi-format Chops from Hell instructional release "HELPS THE SHREDICINE GO DOWN...".
Alrighty...... tired of hearing notes being picked to death without a hint of legato!!???? Well, neither am I. However, for a little variety, I've found a method of ever-so-slightly adding legato to these fives. Simply put, pick every note in the pattern except for the fifth. Do this per every pattern. If you start with a down stroke, you should end with an up, and a slight pause. Pay close attention to the picking in this example shown in the tabliture here. This is a B major scale played in a pattern that is, shall we say, "five friendly." The video example is just me doodling with these patterns, whilst picking every note but the fifth. Enjoy.
