Tapping Arpeggios (Part 2)
Hi there! This is the second part of my section "Tapping Arpeggios".
Why "tapping"? In my playing I use a lot of two-handed licks. I started to explore and involve this technique in my style because the sound and the music created with two-hand playing, is very fluid and smooth - scales, pentatonics, arpeggios (especially), even bending licks. They can be used very effectively to add a different flavor to your solos!
Why arpeggios? I like to play arpeggios very much! Because they are my favourite licks, I decided to show them first.
In my first column "Tapping Arpeggios -Part I", I played arpeggios in uncommon positions (look at examples 2, 3, and 4). In this lesson however, you`ll find the traditional arpeggio positions adapted in two-handed arpeggio licks. Have fun!

Atanas Shishkov was born in Kardzhali, Bulgaria. He started to play the guitar at the age of 11. Atanas took his first private lessons by classical guitar in the early of 90`s. Later he joined in a band and he has many performances in his hometown. Inspired by Joe Satriani and Yngwie Malmsteen, Atanas decided to quit the band and to start exploring the guitar instrumental music. In the middle of 1994 he recorded his first demo project "On The Threshold".
Atanas continued to improve his playing by exploring many "Shrapnel" shredders such as Greg Howe, Vinnie Moore, Jason Becker, Tony Macalpine, Marty Friedman, Paul Gilbert, Michael Lee Firkins and others, as well as the music of Steve Vai and Steve Morse. Atanas also continued to record his own new guitar instrumental experiments. In the summer of 1997 Atanas joined a band performing jam-sessions in a jazz-rock club in his hometown. He began to explore a lot of jazz players such as Al Di Meola, John McLaughlin, Allan Holdsworth, Frank Gambale, Scott Henderson and many jazz bands as well. His next recordings have more jazz and fusion orientation.
